The Pendleton Historic Foundation owns and operates two antebellum historic homes-Ashtabula and Woodburn. The Foundation receives no federal or state government funding, and therefore relies on tours, special events, donations, and grants for operations and maintenance. The mission of the Spartanburg County Historical Association is to explore and preserve our region's history by collecting and sharing the stories of the people who shaped that history. To accomplish this mission, the Association engages visitors in unique living history programs and events in the city and county of Spartanburg; inspires learners of all ages to investigate the history that begins in their own backyard at our historic sites and regional museum; and involves the community in the preservation of our shared past. It undertakes this mission at the Spartanburg Regional History Museum and three historic sites: the Seay House, Historic Price House, and Walnut Grove Plantation.
