The Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum is located on a 66 acre cypress dome on the Big Cypress Reservation. We have beautiful life-like dioramas and exhibits as well as a mile long boardwalk through the cypress dome with signage identifying various plants and animals.

Apopka Historical Society

The Apopka Histoircal Society was organized in 1968 and incorporated in 1971. The Apopka Historical Society are the caretakers of the artifacts representing the history of Apopka and Northwest Orange County. The Museum of the Apopkans is the physical building that houses these artifacts and is owned by the city of Apopka. The city provides support for the museum in maintaining the building and grounds and utilities. At the present time the Apopka Historical Society is staffing the Museum, as the city has not hired a Museum Director or staff person to oversee the museum.

Archer Historical Society Railroad Museum

Constructed prior to 1900, this station served the route from Fernandina to Cedar Key built by David Yulee between 1857 and 1861. Originally located near the Bauknight house, it was moved to this site. The first official name of the line was the Florida Railroad. Later this became the Florida Central & Peninsular, and then part of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. The "Eagle Mine Branch" curved to the south from the station along the present Gibson Street. The Archer Historical Society now owns the station, where there are historic items on display. A historical marker was placed for David Levy Yulee in 1989.

The Maitland Art Center was founded as an artist colony in 1937 by Jules Andre Smith and has grown into a cultural hub for Central Florida. The Maitland Art Center offers art instruction, exhibits, and public programming in an unequaled architectural environment. The Waterhouse Residence Museum offers a glimpse into Florida Victorian life as docents guide visitors through the home of one of Maitland’s founding families, the Waterhouses.

Dedicated to the memories of the “Amphibious Soldiers” of WWII, Franklin County is proud to be the location of North Florida’s premier WWII museum.

Our new facilities, located across from Carrabelle Public Beach Park, house over 4,000 square feet of artifacts, vehicles, photos, memorabilia and memories of the soldiers, sailors and other military as well as civilian personnel who trained and worked here during the WWII years. Three Infantry division and two Special Brigades left here after training to confront tyranny both in Europe and the Pacific. Learn about their dedication, fears and heroism at our museum.

Visit the Carrabelle History Museum located in the Old City Hall Building at 106 Avenue B, SE, ( behind the BP station on US 98). The museum is located in the Old Carrabelle City Hall built in 1933 as project of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) by local mason Marvin Justiss. The museum has 4 rooms to display its collections. a workroom/office for the volunteers to process the incoming artifacts and a nice long hallway for special displays.

The Archer Historical Society's newly developed plan for the Yulee Railroad Day's Celebration, is to coordinate concurrent linear events in all of the towns along the original Florida Railroad's right-of-way, connected by runs, relays, parades etc. Initially it is planned to extend accross all of Alachua County celebrating the 150th anniversary of Yulee's visionary railroad which was chartered in 1853 and crossed Florida in the next 6 years. The event is expected to grow each year, with new events and locations being added until the event extends accross the state, coast to coast, from Fernandina Beach to Cedar Key Florida. We will be having a 150 year anniversary every year for the next 8 years until we mark the date 150 years after it was completed at Cedar Key.
