Through its Resident Artist Programs, Art Center invites emerging visual artists to become artists-in-residence and benefit from subsidized studio space in an environment that nurtures and promotes their creative growth. Resident artists develop and create new work year-round in open studios located at 800, 810 and 924 Lincoln Road.

Mission

The mission of ArtCenter/South Florida is to support artists and advance the knowledge and practice of contemporary visual arts and culture in South Florida.

History

In the spring of 1984, ArtCenter celebrated its grand opening on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach as an organization addressing workspace and community needs of visual artists. With Community Development Block Grant funds from the City of Miami Beach, ArtCenter artists took up residence in 21 storefronts on a then nearly abandoned and severely dilapidated Lincoln Road. Today ArtCenter is commonly credited as being the catalyst for an astounding revitalization of Lincoln Road and the surrounding area.

Art Center's highly visible Lincoln Road location makes it the ideal access point with approximately 100,000 people visiting the Center each year.
