Wauconda Township Historical Society

Wauconda is located in the southeastern part of Wauconda Township on the banks of a beautiful little lake which has from earliest times been known as Bangs Lake, named in honor of Justus and Mark Bangs, the first settlers of the place. The town of Wauconda was organized in the year of 1849, by a vote of the people of the County to divide said County into towns. There were 1,695 votes cast and all except three were in favor of the division.

The Wyatt Earp Birthplace, Inc. is a non-profit organization of volunteers, which operates the Birthplace Home. THE HOME IS ALSO OPEN DURING THE SUMMER FROM 2 TO 4, OR BY CHANCE. Monmouth is in west central Illinois on Routes 34 & 67, fifteen minutes west of I-74.

The purpose of the Warrenville Historical Society is to bring together those interested in Warrenville's history, and to collect, preserve and display objects and documents that illustrate that history. The Historical Society is a self-supporting not-for-profit organization.The Warrenville Historical Society was organized in 1980 and the Society opened the Warrenville Historical Museum in 1984. Space was provided for the Museum in one room of the Greek Revival Style Albright Building through the generosity of the City of Warrenville, interest groups, businesses and individuals. The museum now encompasses the entire building.

Will County Historical Museum and Research Center

In 1837, the town of Lockport was laid out by the Illinois and Michigan Canal commissioners, and an office was constructed and became headquarters for administrative of the waterway. The office played a central role in the design, financing, and construction of the I & M Canal, which connected the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico. The canal extended ninety-six miles from the south branch of the Chicago River near Lake Michigan to the Illinois River at LaSalle-Peru, and was in operation from 1848 to 1914.

Worth Park District Historical Museum

The Historical Museum is located in Rooms 102 & 104 at the Terrace Center located at 11500 Beloit.  The project was funded by a grant written by past Museum Curator, Christine Brooks. The grant was from the Department of Natural Resources Illinois State Museum's Public Museum Capital Grants Program. The larger room displays the museum's growing collections along with a Research Center to accommodate students and genealogists. The Grand Re-Opening was held on August 4, 2004. The museum is presently funded by a museum tax levy.
