The Armstrong Browning Library is a research library devoted to the study of the lives and works of the Victorian poets, Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. It houses the world's largest collection of books, letters, manuscripts, and memorabilia pertaining to the Brownings, as well as a substantial collection of primary and secondary materials related to 19th-century literature and culture. Included in the latter category are works by literary figures who were contemporaries and associates of the Brownings, such as Matthew Arnold, Charles Dickens, George MacDonald, Joseph Milsand, and John Ruskin. Growing collections of 19th-century women poets and 19th-century theological pamphlets are among its newest avenues of expansion.

Blaffer Gallery, The Art Museum of the University of Houston

Through exhibitions, programs, and publications, Blaffer Gallery presents art that is intellectually stimulating and relevant to the University and the community. The current exhibition policy focuses upon art of the past 100 years and its artistic, cultural, and intellectual antecedents. Following a facility expansion in 1999, the museum now presents and/or originates between six to ten exhibitions annually. The schedule may include major traveling exhibitions that have a particular relevance to Houston audiences; mid-sized retrospectives of national and international artists; exhibitions of regional artists; thematic surveys which place artists’ work into new contexts; and special projects by local artists.

Center for American History

The Center's research collections date back to the opening of The University of Texas in 1883. As the University's holdings in Texas history grew, scholars urged their consolidation and special housing. In 1945, University regents created the Eugene C. Barker Texas History Center. In 1991, the Barker became a component of the newly created Center for American History (CAH), a special collections library, archive, and museum that supports research, teaching, and other activities related to the history of the U. S. The CAH is comprised of the Research and Collections Division at UT in Austin, the Sam Rayburn Library and Museum in Bonham and the Winedale near Round Top.

East Texas Oil Museum

This fascinating museum houses the authentic re-creation of oil discovery and production in the early 1930s from the largest oil field inside U.S. boundaries. Here, visitors see the people, their towns, their personal habits, their tools and their pastimes – all colorfully depicted in dioramas, movies, sound presentations and actual antiques donated by East Texas citizens.

The Dishman Art Gallery is a teaching facility in the Art Department at Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas. Exhibitions change monthly. The gallery features one-person exhibition of contemporary artists, group exhibitions of contemporary artists, Art Department faculty shows, graduating senior shows, a national competition (The Dishman Competition), artist-in-residency, Grand Bal (annual art auction), and High School Scholarship exhibitions. There are three gallery spaces - Upper Gallery, Lower Gallery, and the Heinz and Ruth Eisenstadt Collection which consists of 150 19th-century paintings and 250 porceleins and objets d'art.

John E. Conner Museum

The museum's collections, in three major divisions-artifacts, archives, and natural history-are a record of the prehistory, history, and natural history of South Texas. The artifact collections are related to the history of the ordinary man in South Texas. These collections include more than 900 branding irons, a multigenerational apparel and textile collection with items ranging from hand-sewn corset covers to miniskirts, and a collection of pre-Columbian pottery, ceramics, and effigies. An extensive collection of blacksmith, farrier, and wheelwright tools includes more than 100 different tongs, farm machinery designed to be drawn by mules, hand tools, ranching tools, and equipment ranging from fence stretchers to a chuckwagon.

The Sue & Frank Mayborn Natural Science and Cultural History Museum Complex at Baylor University includes the Harry & Anna Jeanes Discovery Center, the Gov. Bill & Vara Daniel Historic Village (closed for renovations until May 2012), and the Strecker Museum Collection. The Mayborn Museum Complex brings together in one location the resources of hands-on discovery rooms and interactive natural science and cultural history galleries, including outdoor exhibits. Meadows Museum

The Meadows Museum is the leading U.S. institution focused on the study and presentation of the art of Spain. In 1962, Dallas businessman and philanthropist Algur H. Meadows donated his private collection of Spanish paintings, as well as funds to start a museum, to Southern Methodist University. The museum opened to the public in 1965, marking the first step in fulfilling Meadows’s vision to create “a small Prado for Texas.”

The Museum of the Coastal Bend is proud to be a member of the La Salle Odyssey Project, a cooperative venture of seven Texas Gulf Coast museums. Each museum tells a segment of the story of French explorers in Texas, captained by Rene-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, in their own unique way.
The Museum of the Coastal Bend presents the story of the first French settlement on Texas soil, Fort Saint Louis. MCB is the main site of artifacts from the archaeological dig recently completed at the site of Fort St. Louis, including seven of the eight iron cannons used to protect this early settlement.
Archeological stewards at the Museum of the Coastal Bend actively work to gather artifacts and information from archeological sites in the region.
