Nature Heritage Tourism Center: The Delmarva Discovery Center on the Pocomoke River presently consists of two buildings, the Discovery Center and the Exploratory. The Discovery Center is a 16,000 square foot, 1920s era building and will house the exhibits, changing exhibit space, gift shop, classroom, and administrative space.

Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center

Harriet Tubman was a deeply spiritual woman who lived her ideals and dedicated her life to freedom. She is the Underground Railroad’s best known conductor and before the Civil War repeatedly risked her life to guide nearly 70 enslaved people north to new lives of freedom. This new national historical park preserves the same landscapes that Tubman used to carry herself and others away from slavery.

The Natural History Society of Maryland (NHSM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded in 1929. Its extensive collections of Maryland flora, fauna, fossils, and minerals, dating back to the early 1800’s, are a rare and valuable asset to the State of Maryland. Many of the items that were on display in the Natural History Museum in Druid Hill Park from 1936 to the early 1970’s are still in our collection.

Benjamin Banneker Historical Park & Museum Inc

Encompassing 142 acres, with various facilities and extensive nature trails, the primary focus of this site is cultural and natural history. The Historical Park & Museum is dedicated to the legacy of the Colonial farmer, clockmaker, mathematician, astronomer,and Federal Territority surveyor, Benjamin Banneker, known as the first African American man of science.

A wonderful groundbreaking ceremony for the new Visitors’ Orientation and Education Center was held on June 3, 2008 and was a resounding success! The new 10,000 square foot state of the art “green” building is a public-private partnership among the Cylburn Arboretum Association, the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland, the Horticultural Society of Maryland and Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks.

Mount Harmon Plantation is the northernmost colonial era Tidewater plantation open to the public, and is a scenic and historic treasure.

In cooperation with Washington College, Chestertown, MD Mount Harmon is in the planning stages of an archaeological dig.

The plantation is situated on a peninsula formed by creeks and inlets of the Sassafras River in Cecil County, Maryland, known on early maps as World’s End. Mount Harmon is listed on the National Historic Register, is an official Chesapeake Bay Gateway Network site, and is located along the National Scenic Byway.

Robinson Nature Center

The Robinson Nature Center is a unique nature education facility situated on 18 acres of land adjacent to the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area, which provides over 1,000 acres of forest, meadows and river valley to explore. The three-story center is nestled into a hillside and was designed from the very beginning with energy conservation and sustainability in mind.
