Mission

Our Mission: The Bruce Museum promotes the understanding and appreciation of Art and Science to enrich the lives of all people.

History

The Museum was originally built as a private home in 1853. Robert Moffat Bruce (1822-1908), a wealthy textile merchant and member of the New York Cotton Exchange, bought the house and property in 1858 and deeded them to the Town on Greenwich in 1908.

Artifact Collections

Over the past 100 years, the Bruce Museum has developed a diverse collection through both gifts and purchases. From its holdings of approximately 15,000 objects in fine and decorative art, natural history and anthropology, the Museum selects items to complement its long and short-term exhibitions.

Educational Programs

The Bruce Museum is an educational institution which, through its varied exhibitions and collections in the arts and sciences, provides programs for diverse audiences. See http://brucemuseum.org/site/education/
