The St. Petersburg Museum of History experience includes various galleries that include: Flight One - The World’s First Airline exhibit featuring a full size, working replica of the Benoist Air Boat; Schrader's Little Cooperstown - history told through the world's largest collection of autographed baseballs; St. Petersburg Gallery - a look at the Sunshine City's history beginning with the native Tocobaga people; plus rotating exhibits and Life, Death and Beyond - our 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy.

Mission

The purpose of the St. Petersburg Historical Society is to collect, preserve and communicate the history of St. Petersburg and the Pinellas Peninsula; to increase and facilitate the understanding and appreciation of this unique area for the community and its visitors; to maintain an archival library and a museum in which to display collections and provide educational programs that will promote, reflect and celebrate our cultural heritage.

History

Opened in 1922, the St. Petersburg Museum is the oldest museum in Pinellas County and services thousands of visitors and residents alike on St. Petersburg's downtown waterfront.

Research Collections

A collection of historical photographs, posters, books, and newspapers along with other historic items to research anything in the history of St. Petersburg.

Museum in a Box

The St. Petersburg Museum of History offers artifacts, printed material, digital items and teacher lesson plans in the following areas: Early Florida Native Americans Sports & Recreation Transportation The Museum in the Box is available for teachers to check out and use in their classrooms.
