Description

The Los Angeles Maritime Museum creates and awareness and appreciation of the maritime history of coastal California, with an emphasis on the people and institutions of the port city of Los Angeles.

History

Founded in 1980, located in the former Municipal Ferry Terminal in the port of Los Angeles [now a national historic landmark.

Artifact Collections

Collections and exhibits focus on harbor history, labor history, fishing, and shipbuilding, Naval presence in San Pedro bay, and maritime decorative arts.

Research Collections

Small maritime research library open by appointment.

Programs

Guest speakers, diving demonstrations, tours on historic harbor tug Angels Gate.
