Our art Outreach is an educational curriculum designed to collaborate with other neighboring organizations helping them develop creative talents and skills not realized through traditional methods of teaching. The program serves children K-12, children of migrant workers, physically and mentally challenged teens and adults, elderly citizens in residential settings and teens at risk.

Plein Air Festival

Every March, the Lighthouse ArtCenter holds its annual Plein Air Festival. Award-winning juried artists come from around the country to paint and compete for prizes during the four-day festival. On the fourth day is a quick-draw paint out in which anyone can compete as long as he or she registers. The paintings are available for sale in the Lighthouse ArtCenter Museum and are highly valued by collectors.

Art Supply Store, Gift Store and Artists' Guild Gallery

The Lighthouse ArtCenter School of Art has an art supply store with items handpicked by the ArtCenter's instructors. In the gift shop, there are ceramics, artist-made clothing, jewelry, books by local authors, greeting cards and more. The Artists' Guild Gallery features paintings, sculpture, photography and more.

History of the Lighthouse ArtCenter

Lighthouse ArtCenter began in 1964 when eight local women got together to form an artists’ group. The first organized event came in the early part of 1964 when a local bank offered up their wall space to the community’s local artists to show their work. Artists came from the surrounding communities south from Lake Worth and north to Stuart. The basic ambitions of the group to continue with art shows of local talent were the foundations for what would later become the Lighthouse ArtCenter; community shows with local artists, classes in different mediums for anyone who wanted to learn, gallery and classroom space. A second art show was scheduled with the students of Jupiter Junior and Senior High School. The show was judged by Mr. and Mrs. Christopher D. Norton who became very interested in the newly formed group with its aims and ambitions. Mr. Norton guaranteed a lease and remodeled a building for their use and served as first Director. Mr. Norton once said, “The growth of the Gallery into the area’s cultural center, was not even considered at the time of its founding. I now realize, at this time, how much the Gallery has grown in stature. It is indeed an integral part of our community."
