Every day, we work hard to provide a hands-on, “Play and Learn” environment. We rely on talented staff, dedicated volunteers and generous community support to make our mission a reality.
Our bright and friendly building – formerly a car dealership! – has over 16,000 square feet of gallery space. We have 10 galleries designed specifically for guests age 10 and under. Each gallery was developed around Michigan school curriculum with input from children’s museum specialists, educators, and KIDS!
Our mission is to engage and motivate children to use their curiosity and creativity to learn about the wonders of our world.
We opened our doors in 2008, but our museum started as a passion project years before that. Today, we are privileged to serve a diverse community and we are excited for what the future will bring! Because, unlike traditional museums, the Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum is all about the future – future artists, future scientists, future engineers … future community members!
A field trip to your Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum will help you apply Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations and Common Core State Standards to real-world museum adventures. Kiddos will explore, learn, and create in an environment dedicated to supporting your teaching with hands-on experiences. And if you can’t come to us, we offer many of our in-house lessons as traveling extension lessons.
Our engaging, hands-on science programs utilize our galleries and address the Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations and Common Core State Standards for children up to 10 years of age.
2nd Grader Are 1st Class field trip – Give second graders a chance to build and apply knowledge, problem solve, and think critically as they learn the unique properties of air and water through our hands-on, interactive galleries! This carefully crafted “learning expedition” cannot be duplicated in any classroom and is tailored to the Michigan Common Core standards. It positions second-graders at the very beginning of the STEM talent pipeline. Scholarships may be available.
Common Cents field trip – Common Cents Financial Field Trips sponsored by Huntington provide financial literacy learning opportunities to elementary school-aged children. Local Huntington employees will be on site to help students practice basic math and financial skills though fun, creative activities. Scholarships may be available.
Get Up and Grow lesson – Explore and examine the needs of a plant, piece together a flower from petal to stamen, and take home your own seedling to plant. This lesson is customizable to your class’ grade level.
Playful Polymer lesson – Make your own ooey gooey slime and learn about how much fun polymers can be! Students learn what exactly a polymer is, the properties of polymers, and how polymers move. This lesson is customizable to your class’ grade level.
We have even more lessons available, just ask!
Our bright and friendly building – formerly a car dealership! – has over 16,000 square feet of gallery space. In addition, we have classrooms that we use for field trips, meetings, and birthday parties; and a gift shop focused on creativity and learning.
We have a monthly newsletter.
Our gift shop offers high-quality, educational specialty toys that are hand selected by our very own Certified Play Expert! Whether you’re looking for a baby shower present or a birthday present, we have something that is just right for every occasion! We also offer memberships, camp registrations and more! And because we value our members, they receive great discounts! Stop in and check out The Tinkery or grab something online
At the Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum, we believe that access to educational play shouldn’t be limited. Our Museum4Me adaptive play program was carefully developed so each of our guests can learn, thrive and play!
