Description

The Franklin Historical Museum is a local museum exhibiting historical photos, documents and artifacts that represent the town and it's rich history.

Mission

The Franklin Historical Museum is a center for community engagement, committed to facilitating the exploration of Franklin through a local, regional, and national lens, to a multigenerational audience.

History

The Franklin Historical Commission established the Museum at the time of our Bicentennial in 1978 and opened in the South Meeting House. In 2000 the museum moved to the former town hall, which had been beautifully renovated by the town.

Artifact Collections

Military artifacts and uniforms. Historical Textiles. Historical photos and artifacts from local schools, churches and factories. Sample of Native American Arrowheads found around local ponds and trails.

Research Collections

School records, annual town reports, HS yearbooks dating back to 1929, valuation reports, town directories, etc. Collection of Stanley Chilson films dating from the early 1930s to the early 1960s depicting local town events, graduations, construction, road work, daily town living.

Governance

Run by an appointed 7 member Franklin Historical Commission and a group of dedicated volunteers.
