Description

One of the finest collections of 19th century carriages and historical artifacts on the west coast. Family friendly, with interactive exhibits. Educational, historical, and fun! A great place for individual and group tours. A unique gift shop with books, jewelry, old fashioned toys!

Mission

To preserve, interpret and the collection of horse drawn vehicles and period artifacts of the 19th century.

History

The NWCMuseum opened it doors in 2002 with a donation of 21 vehicles to the City of Raymond. Over the years our reputation has grown, we now house 42 vehicles with more on the way. We have become a resource for carriage information and a destination point for those interested in history and transportation.

Artifact Collections
Carriages from 1890-1912
Road Coach from 1850
Several vehicles used in the movies classics, "Gone With the Wind, Virginia City, Gentleman Jim"
Many artifacts including amethyst glass collections, period clothing and so much more!
Programs

We offer field trips for all ages. Our elementary schools visit and learn about the old days which includes visiting our 1890's one room school and churning butter.

Facilities

We just did an addition to our museum, adding a 4000 square foot barn with lofts.

Governance

The building is owned by the City of Raymond. We have a 8 member Board, with a Director and Curator.

Services
Tours

We love sharing our carriage collection with groups of all ages. Guided tours can be tailored to accommodate any group. As you stroll among the beautifully restored vehicles, your tour guide will explain not only carriage history, but also life in the 1890’s. Did you know traffic congestion was a real problem in the horse drawn era? Some of the first horseless carriages were actually advertised as the “solution to pollution.” I bet you can imagine why!

We would love to host your group. Group tours always receive a discounted admission at the Northwest Carriage Museum and parking is abundant.

Gift Shop

The Northwest Carriage Museum is a great place to find that unique gift…Birthday? Anniversary? Holiday? Souvenir? There is a wonderful collection of books, jewelry, housewares, children toys and so much more! We are always updating inventory in our gift shop. Pictures below show some of our selection! Gift certificates are also available for your shopping pleasure.
