Description

The Heritage Center of Cherokee County is a cultural history museum. Admission is free and we are open on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and by special appointment. The main areas of emphasis are the Caddo Indians, New Birmingham, Texas State Railroad, the Forest Industry, and the Rusk State Hopsital/Prison System.

History

The Norman Memorial Museum, Inc. was established in 1989 to preserve the history of Cherokee County, Texas. The Board of Directors was reorganized in 2003 and the facility was renamed the Heritage Center of Cherokee County in 2004.
