Description

Museum is of early Methodist History in MD, the beginnings of Methodism. The library houses closed church original records and history of each church in our conference.

Mission

We are charged by God to "neither forget the things that our eyes have seen nor to let them slip from our minds, to remember, to collect, and to share the stories of God and the people of God in this region.: With God's help and with the prayers and support of the local churches, clergy, laity, and staff of the Baltimore-Washington Conference, we swill serve as the primary witness to the history of God's people called United Methodist and their antecedents in the Methodist Episcopal, Methodist Protestant, Methodist Episcopal South and Evangelical United Brethren denominations.

History

The American Methodist Historical Society was founded 1855 to preserve our Methodist heritage.

Artifact Collections

Original portions of letters of the Wesley family, portrait of Francis Asbury, Scale models of early Methodist buildings, original Strawbridge pulpit, copy of tea set used by the Wesley's.

Research Collections

Collection of Wesley's writings, works, family history, and that of ministers in our conference. Closed church records; history of our open churches; Biographies of our ministers; general history of Methodism in MD and surrounding areas.
