The Matthews Living Farm Museum was formed to preserve the unique history of the Grayson County, Virginia region of Applachia. The 1900 time period Museum preserves this heritage and fosters an understanding and appreciation of the resourceful and innovative people in this area of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We received our gift of a 21 acre circa 1900 farm with house and outbuildings in 2002. Our first event was held in 2004. We now have 2 barns, a workshop area, a circa 1851 log cabin, working springhouse, heritage kitchen & herb garden, and pavilion with rest rooms. This is a working farm, circa 1900 with livestock & crops. Our open air, covered pavilion serves as our lecture hall, performance space, rest area & dining area.
