Smyth County Historical Society & Museum has acquired an impressive collection from prehistoric to the modern era; Two collections of special significance. The first is the Southwestern State Hospital Collection of artifacts and photographs from 1887 through the 1950's and a collection of period clothing and textiles from 1808-1965.
