We are planning to do more programming during our "open " season from May - October. We hope to increase our membership by being more visible and are working on better storage and display of our artifacts. We are also going to be seeking additional funding from the two townships involved, since our small society of approximately 50 members has fiancial constraints.We have, through the generosity of many small and major private donations, repainted the outside of our historic building twice, the inside once and re-roofed the building, in addition to putting up a "barn" to house larger agricultural artifacts,since actually purchasing the property.

The once-dilapidated depot was accurately renovated and opened as a history museum by the Historical Society in 1993. Our impressive museum features historical displays and artifacts of the greater Black Earth area. Recently, it has undergone a refresh with exterior painting, new roof, and re-landscaping with native plants for pollinators. Come visit us!

The Burnett County Historical Society is located at Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park - an 80 acre site with an authentic, restored 1802-1804 Fur Post and a Woodland Indian Village. The Society manages the Historic Site as well as a History Library, restored 1800 school house and soon a logging museum.

Designed by prominent Milwaukee architect Alexander Eschweiler for Charles Allis, the first president of Allis Chalmers, and his wife Sarah in 1911, this unique Tudor-style mansion and art collection was built with the sole purpose of bequeathing it to the public to delight, educate and inspire. The permanent collection features 19th Century French and American Paintings, Chinese and Japanese porcelains, Renaissance bronzes, Japanese netsuke, and original antique furnishings.

Our research rates are $10.00/hr if you are a current member of the society and $15.00/hr if you are not a member (there is a one hour minimum). We also charge $0.50/copy for the first 10 copies made and $0.25/copy for each copy after that as well as postage. Circus World Museum collects, preserves and interprets archival material and artifacts relating to the history of the American circus. In addition to the circus museum, it maintains and operates a circus library and research center. Through its exhibits and educational outreach programs, Circus World Museum strives to encourage an appreciation of the historic role of the circus in American life, including the presentation of live circus performances during the summer season. The summer season includes a full range of family entertainment including stage shows, circus music demonstrations, train loading demonstrations, clown acts, animal and carousel rides, and educational animal training demonstrations. During the fall and winter seasons, exhibit facilities are open for self-guided tours.
