Crabtree is popular for birding. A total of 263 bird species have been observed and at least 89 species have been recorded to breed on the property. Numerous ducks and geese occur in spring and fall on Crabtree Lake. Spring wildflowers carpet the forested areas, as do summer and autumn blossoms in the meadows and prairies.
A spacious exhibit building and several miles of self-guiding, educational trails enable you to enjoy the wildlife and native plants and to learn of the vital relationships in nature which allow all of us to survive on this earth of ours.

The Flagg Township Museum has over 20,000 prehistoric and historic artifacts and we are getting more each day. All of our artifacts are unique testaments to life in the Flagg Township area. Some of our most notable artifacts include the Partin-Palmer automobile, the Linotype used to print the first five issues of Playboy, meteorite, uniforms from the Civil and World Wars, prehistoric stone tools, and 18th-20th century women's and men's clothing.

Because it is not the recipient of large grants or subsidies, the Society is dependent upon the generous support of our visitors such as you: regular donations toward expenses by members: many who include remembrances in estates: memberships and personal help, plus county businesses and organizations all interested in retaining and recording history of Iroquois County, our home, thus preserving our rich heritage.
