The Marfa and Presidio County Museum is located along Highway 90, the main thoroughfare intersecting the west Texas town of Marfa. The Museum is housed in a historic adobe home built in the 1880s by local Don Juan Humphries.

McNamara House Museum

The McNamara House was built in 1876 in the style known as Greek Revival with Victorian accents. The house was built for Mr. William J. McNamara, a local hide and cotton dealer, and his wife Mary Ann Buckley McNamara and their four daughters: Mary Ellen, Elizabeth, Margaret and Catherine. William McNamara emigrated from Ireland in the 1850’s to New York City, then on to Pennsylvania, Port Lavaca, and finally settled in Victoria.

Meadows Museum

The Meadows Museum is the leading U.S. institution focused on the study and presentation of the art of Spain. In 1962, Dallas businessman and philanthropist Algur H. Meadows donated his private collection of Spanish paintings, as well as funds to start a museum, to Southern Methodist University. The museum opened to the public in 1965, marking the first step in fulfilling Meadows’s vision to create “a small Prado for Texas.”

Mills County Historical Museum

As the word got out, the people of Mills County brought in their family heirlooms. The first prized possessions of the museum were the old family farm wagon, old pianos, and 100-year-old quilts. Volunteers arranged all the donated antiques, raised money for repairs, did the repairs, made many of the museum display cases and partitions, hauled in the old Hudson Drugstore cases, and brought in old barn boards to make walls and wooden frames for displays.

The Museums of Port Isabel located in historic Port Isabel at the southernmost tip of Texas surrounded by the beautiful waters of the Laguna Madre Bay consists of three unique museums - the Port Isabel Lighthouse Historic Site complex, the Port Isabel Historical Museum, and the Treasures of the Gulf Museum. Each of the museum compliments the other and each interprets the maritime, military, art, history and culture of the Laguna Madre area. All three museums are located in the downtown historic district and are walking distance from each other as well as from restuarants,shopping,fishing, dolphin and natural history boat excursions and more.

McNay Art Museum

Built by educator Marion Koogler McNay in the 1920s, the Spanish Colonial Revival-style home opened as the first museum of modern art in 1954. Mrs. McNay believed that the experience of great art should be available to everyone. Today more than 100,000 visitors a year become captivated by magnificent works of art by 20th-century luminaries including Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh, Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. A vital partner in arts education, the McNay annually serves as many as 45,000 adults, teachers, students and families with a variety of arts education programs and educational resources, including a fine arts reference library and interpretive information about art in the museum's collection and exhibitions.
