The history of our area is brought to life through the society's collecton of photographs, artifacts and exhibits. The society is working toward a major expansion to the main exhibit building, which houses the archives, offices, gift shop and the rotating exhibit gallery. Museum History: The Big Horn County Historical Society developed the Big Horn County Historical Museum in 1978 on a 22 acre farm. Over the past 31 years the museum has grown dramtically from one building to 24 significant historic structures that have have been moved to the property from various locations.

H. Earl Clack Museum

The H. Earl Clack Museum covers Hill County history from the age of dinosaurs through the present. Native American displays along with those of the US Cavalry give way to early settlers, cowboys and rodeo stars who all were part of Havre's colorful history.

We have a large Museum just jam-packed with exhibits ranging from the age of the dinosaurs to the 21st century! Exhibits include many from the Native peoples of the area, from the pioneers of the range country of the Great Plains, and from soldiers including General Custer, for whom the county is named, as well as from General Miles, for whom the town is named

Custer Battlefield Museum
Garryowen, Montana

The Custer Battlefield Museum located where the battle began houses the largest collection of Battle of the Little Big Horn artifacts in the world. Also on display is one of the largest collections of D.F. Barry Photographs. We have collected an extensive collection of Lewis and Clark items, Indian Artifacts and weaponry. A fully loaded Remmington pistol found here at Garryowen is on display. Tom Custer's Kerr Revolver is also on display. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is located adjacient to the museum.

Museum of Mountain Flying

As part of the preservation effort, the Museum seeks to acquire and display any and all items related to this region's mountain flying history, including, but not limited to, appropriate vintage aircraft, memorabilia, artifacts, historical documents, photographs, personal narratives and diaries, motion picture footage, tape recordings, magazine articles and books.
