Michigan Antique Fire Equipment
Ypsilanti, Michigan

History, Specialized

The Museum is located in Ypsilanti, Michigan in a historic firehouse constructed in 1898 and used by the city of Ypsilanti until 1975. Museum founders Howard and Norma Weaver purchased the firehouse in 1999 with the vision to establish a museum. A new 10,000 square foot addition to the historic building was completed in the summer of 2002 as part of the Museum.

Our exhibits focus on the history of fire fighting in the State of Michigan and fire fighting technology. We actively collect Michigan fire fighting equipment and related archival materials. Our collections include fire trucks, extinguishers, emblems, bells, hats, helmets, ladders, breathing apparatus, clothing, hose carts, nozzles and toy fire trucks.
