Glen Burnie Historic House and Gardens opened to the public as a museum in 1997. In 2005, the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) opened on the property. The MSV tells the story of the art, history, and culture of the Shenandoah Valley and anchors a regional history museum complex that also includes Glen Burnie Historic House and gardens.
A non-profit preservation organization that works to protect the area's historic resources, Preservation of Historic Winchester operates the Old Town Welcome Center.
The museum offers an interactive, hands-on experience for families that focuses on the sciences, mathematics, humanities, and the arts.
