The first permanent white settler in Wyandotte County was Moses Grinter. He built Grinter House in 1857 which is now a National Historical Site which overlooks the Kansas River.
Lenexa's History Museum: antiques, photographs, family heirlooms, Legler Barn Quilters, information on Lenexa's origins and families, including a Lenexa History Library and Gift Shop are on exhibit.
Shawnee Town Museum is a division of the City of Shawnee's Parks and Recreation Department. The Museum is currently undergoing an expansion that will allow visitors to experience a typical day in and around the 1920s farm community of Shawnee, Kansas, through authentic collections, exhibits, programs and events.
